While a student at Ozarks, Dr. Casey worked in the business division office as a tutor and work study student. He knew at that time he wanted to become a professor. He says, “To have the privilege to help students develop academically, socially, culturally and develop leadership and confidence is why I am in education. To see a student take what they learn in the classroom and apply it to the real world upon graduation is really rewarding. I believe in education you are making a difference and helping students prepare for their careers. I also believe in our mission to 'provide the best education possible for each student every time.' I have been associated with Ozarks since I graduated, and enjoy the family atmosphere. We have small classes and get to know each student by name. We are here to not just help them with academic issues, but here when they are also having problems and challenging times."

After graduation, Dr. Casey worked in the banking industry, where he was a comptroller and vice president, and in law enforcement as a criminal investigator for the Johnson County Sheriff's Department. But Ozarks was the place Dr. Casey wanted to call "home" -- he loves the university and the opportunity it gives him to work closely with students, and to have a part in their academic development. He taught courses as an adjunct professor, then joined the University as a full-time faculty member in 1987. He is now the Director of Ozarks' International Studies program. In this role, he works with both Walton and International Achievement Scholars and has the opportunity to work with the many different cultures on campus and watch as the students learn about these various cultures. He also serves as an advisor to the Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE), Phi Beta Lambda (PBL), and Alpha and Omega organizations.

Dr. Casey's love for Ozarks extends well beyond the classroom. He has served on the University's Alumni board since his graduation in 1979, holding the positions of Alumni board Treasurer, Vice President and President. He currently serves as the faculty representative to the board. His never-tiring attitude has earned him some much-deserved recognition by his peers. He won the University's Bagwell Outstanding Faculty award in 1989 and 1999, was the recipient of the Alumni Achievement award in 2002, and has received the Alumni Faculty Enrichment award three times.

Dr. Casey is active member is a number of organizations outside of Ozarks -- he is the secretary for the Johnson Regional Medical Center Board of Directors, serves on the boards of the Community food bank and the local March of Dimes chapter, and has served as chair of the Rural Fire District #3 Board of Directors. He has served on several Arkansas Department of Higher Education certification committees, and has worked with a number of students as a reader on their dissertation committees.

Dr. Casey says he is a great admirer of the management and leadership of Wal-Mart founder Sam Walton and of Peter Druker, a writer, teacher, and consultant who specializes in strategy and policy for businesses and social sector organizations. Dr. Casey's own style and beliefs have earned him certification from Development Dimensions International as an interviewer and an assessment administer. He has worked with both Baldor Electric and Wal-Mart to refine their employee selection processes, and has co-authored a publication with Dr. Jay Robbins titled An analysis of the Hackman and Oldman Model of Job Redesign and Motivation in the Manufacturing Sector, published in the Journal of the American Society of Business and Behavioral Sciences. Dr. Casey is also a member of the Academy of Management.
