Professor Stacy Key joined the Ozarks faculty in 1999. During his first years, he saw a variety of students in his classes and observes "Most students arrive at college with a very wide spectrum of likes and dislikes. Mathematics is an area where most people have a strong opinion, one way or the other." He reminds his students, "Despite preference of subject, mathematics is an integral part of a person's life and knowledge in this subject will add tremendously to a person's education and ability to problem solve and think critically throughout life."

When asked what brought him to Ozarks, Professor Key replies, "The flavor and personality of the school and the student body help the University of the Ozarks to be a warm and friendly campus. I enjoy having students in class that I see on a regular basis at other campus activities. The student body, faculty, staff and administration of Ozarks strive to make the education one receives at Ozarks more than the ordinary college education. The excellent student-to-teacher ratio allows for the teacher and student to establish a relationship where maximum learning can take place." He says his decision to teach came about a long time ago. "Early in life, I came to appreciate good teaching and good teachers. All of us can remember a teacher who had a positive and lasting impression on molding us as students and individuals." Professor Key is a firm believer that it is his responsibility to make that positive and lasting impression. He is determined to use his teaching abilities to help students in their everyday lives as well as in their academic careers.

Reflecting on his own life, Professor Key says "I think if I could turn the clock back and be 18 again, I would spend more time appreciating life at that moment in time and not worrying as much about the future." He continues, "Planning for the future is important and vital in life, but also learning to be content as we are traveling life's journey is a high priority in enjoying life." He has these hopes for his students as they prepare for their own journey through life: "In addition to a great college education and a degree, I would hope you leave Ozarks with many wonderful memories of your college career and an abundance of lifelong friendships with fellow students and faculty."

In his spare time, Professor Key is an outdoor enthusiast. "I love the outdoors," he says. "I enjoy hiking, camping, water skiing and other outdoor activities. I also like sports and activities, both as a participant and a spectator. Being involved in the Ozarks intramural program along with other physical activities, helps me to get good exercise and relief from stress, while establishing good friendships with fellow participants."
