English Major: Overview

Students in the English program at Ozarks learn to appreciate the insights literature provides into the human condition, to comprehend the literary traditions of Britain and America, to employ the vocabulary of sophisticated literary analysis, and to probe the meaning of literary texts from a variety of different critical perspectives.
In addition to preparing you for graduate study in literature or for careers in education, as an English major you'll have an excellent background should you choose to study a subject such as law. Moreover, with its strong emphasis on clear thinking and writing and on the insightful analysis of human behavior, an Ozarks English degree offers valuable expertise should you choose to seek a career in journalism, public relations, marketing, management, or information technology.
