Political Science Major: Overview

Political Science at Ozarks

As human beings, thinking about politics is what we do, whether we are conscious of it or not. We seek and prize the opportunity to make political choices consistent with human dignity. How effective we are in making these choices depends on how well we combine personal and societal purposes and how well-equipped we are with the skills and information necessary to achieve these ends.

The University of the Ozarks Political Science discipline can help you in your quest to make sound political choices. Our courses cover fields such as public policy, international relations, political thought, American politics, state and local politics, political economics, and constitutional law. Students who major in political science often continue their studies in leading graduate and professional schools and eventually pursue careers in law, public administration, government service and academia. In Ozarks’ pre-law program, students will be exposed to a well-rounded liberal arts curriculum that includes literature, American history, American government and constitution, political thought, economics and logic. Students will have the opportunity to complement their course load with career counseling and community service opportunities with public agencies.
