Theatre Facilities
The theatre program is housed in the Walton Fine Arts Center, which was opened in 1987. The Walton Center contains two main theatres. Seay Theatre, the proscenium space, features state of the art sound and lighting equipment. The Roland Sound system upgrade, offering total surround sound and a 24-channel mixing/recording studio, was completed in the summer of 2000.
The University then installed a Strand Lighting system, centered around the Strand 550i computerized lighting console with 1500 DMX intensity channels in the spring of 2001. These improvements truly elevate Seay Theatre into a state of the art space which seats 400 on the main floor and 300 in the balcony.
In addition, the Walton Center boasts a flexible black box space also used a smaller main stage productions. These performance spaces are supported by a fully equipped scene shop, prop shop, and costume shop. Spacious make-up and dressing rooms complete the facility.
