Amber Roth joined the Ozarks Admission team in August of 2008 as the Walker Teacher Education Program Admission Counselor. She is passionate about higher education and is thrilled to be a part of the strong community here at U of O.

Amber earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Nebraska at Kearney in physical and health education K-12 in 1997 and earned her master's degree in teaching from the University of Nebraska in 2000. She is currently working on her doctorate, studying workforce education at the University of Arkansas. Before coming to Ozarks, Amber had served as a community education coordinator and instructor at a community college, a college director, and public school educator.

Amber believes that higher education is vitally important in today's global economy, but understands that each student must find the right school to help that student reach his or her full potential, both academically and personally. She advises students to visit as many colleges as they can to get a feel for the campus environment. "Notice the way you are treated, and what opportunities the institution offers you, not only academically but also personally. I feel strongly that any student who visits our campus will see how friendly and how 'at home' they feel from the moment they step foot on campus."

Amber encourages all students to take advantage of the time spent in college to develop friendships and learn life long skills that only the college experience can provide. She learned that during her own days of undergraduate work when she was highly involved with campus activities in college -- from NCAA athlete and cheerleader, to music and band. She continues to be active in activities going on at Ozarks, playing on several intramural sports teams, and participating in a book club with other people from campus. "I take advantage of activities and opportunities that U of O offers me even as a staff member," she says. Amber is very active away from campus too, with many interests and hobbies. She enjoys photography, yoga, mediation, and she has restored several historic homes and currently lives in a historic loft.

Amber's Territory: Amber visits with students worldwide who are interested in the Walker Teacher Education Program. She also works with concurrent high school students from the Johnson County Westside district in Johnson County, Arkansas, and with all high school students from Lamar and Oark, Arkansas.
