A native of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Hunter graduated from Ozarks in 2003 with a bachelor's degree in general studies.  He spent a year working in marketing and enrollment management with the University of Phoenix in Little Rock before returning to Ozarks as an admissions counselor. Hunter says he is glad to be back at Ozarks. "I definitely like working on a college campus," says Hunter. "It doesn't really feel like work!"

As the admission counselor responsible for recruiting students nationwide, Hunter travels throughout the United States.  He shows prospective students and their parents the benefits Ozarks has to offer.  Hunter also tells students who have a learning disability or AD/HD about the special benefits they receive if they enroll in the university's Jones Learning Center.

A former learning center student himself, Hunter is able to draw upon his own experiences when talking to prospective students. "I used the learning center extensively," he says. "I saw my coordinator [in the learning center] several hours a week." Hunter also stresses to prospective students the one-on-one relationship available with many professors at Ozarks. "If [students] need to speak with their professor, they can, and usually on the same day they need to," he says.  He believes he personally benefited from the frequent communication with his professors while a student. "They showed me what I needed to be successful."

Hunter studied business while at Ozarks, and lists finance as one of his favorite classes. "I'm kind of a numbers person," says Hunter. "I like to bring it all together -- numbers, statistics and other information--and see the big picture."

Having returned to Clarksville, Hunter enjoys hunting, fishing and hiking in some of the same spots he frequented as a student. "I love being outdoors," says Hunter. "I try to make a trip out west every year." So far, his travels have included the Yukon, New Mexico, the Big Bend area of Texas and the Salmon River in Idaho.

Hunter's Advice to Prospective Students: Try new things and be open minded to change. This is the time in your life where you get to test the skills your parents have instilled in you. It is also time for you to rely on yourself and become who you will be forever.
