Lane Loyd begins his first year at the University of the Ozarks as an admission counselor for the Walker Teacher Education Program. Loyd, who previously served as a teacher for the last 15 years, states that all of his experience in education have led up to this point.
"I have been around public schools all my life," says Loyd, who is also the son of a teacher. "Education has been a big part of my life."
As the admission counselor responsible for recruiting students worldwide, Loyd will be directly responsible for the recruitment of any student interested in education at Ozarks. Loyd will also handle all prospective students in Johnson County.
After graduating from Avinger High School, Loyd went on to receive a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education from Austin College in Sherman, Texas before stepping into the professional world of teaching. Loyd also secured a minor in art and physical education before graduation. The Longview, Texas native also spent eight years as a head coach for high school basketball teams in Texas and Arkansas.
In his free time, Loyd enjoys spending time outdoors, hunting, fishing, reading and watching movies.
Lane's Advice to Prospective Students: "Success is not found at the end of the road. Success is the road."
