Hurie Scholarship
The Hurie Scholarship equals the amount of the first year's tuition. To qualify for this scholarship you must:
- Be a first-time entering freshman
- Have an ACT composite score of at least 27 or an SAT score of at least 1200 (combination of Critical reading and Math sections only)
- Have at least a 3.5 cumulative high school GPA, with at least a 3.5 GPA in the core subjects
- Not be selected as an Arkansas Governor's Scholarship recipient
- All students who qualify for the Presidential scholarship will automatically be considered for a Hurie Scholarship, but will be asked to complete an essay and two interviews on-campus.
- These interviews will take place February 16-28, 2008. Students will not be able to interview for Hurie scholarships after February 28. Students who have a school related obligation may request an interview February 2-13. More information about the interview and essay will be available to candidates prior to the interview. Each candidate will be encouraged to participate in a campus visit as part of their interview day. The office of admission will provide hotel lodging for 1 night and meals on campus for the student and family members.
- Students must be admitted by February 15 in order to interview.
The Hurie Scholarship does not cover the cost of administrative fees such as activity fee, media fee, computer use fees, etc. (these total approximately $600 per academic year).
If you qualify for the Hurie Scholarship but you aren't selected to receive the award, you will receive a Presidential Scholarship.
To renew a Hurie Scholarship: You must earn a cumulative GPA of not less than 3.00 by the end of the first year, 3.25 by the end of the second year, and 3.25 by the end of the third year. Also, you must complete a minimum of 10 hours per semester of supervised community service activities.
