Ozarks is committed to providing computer equipment and services that enhance teaching and learning, by giving students access to a wealth of electronic information that will assist in their academic efforts, as well as allow quick and easy electronic communication across the campus community.

Ozarks provides network access through 10 campus computer labs, including one lab open 24 hours. Lab computers are equipped primarily with Dell® computers running the Windows NT 4.0® and Windows XP® operating systems. Each lab is outfitted with at least one laser printer, and several labs provide access to at least one color flatbed scanner. The Microsoft Office® 2003 suite is installed on all lab computers.

Computer network access extends to campus residence halls and student apartments. Each room in campus housing contains an Ethernet network port for each room resident. three dedicated T1 lines connect our Ethernet fiber-optic internal gigabit intranet to the external Internet. This combination offers data transmission rates of up to 1.5 MBits.

The Ozarks campus also has seven smart classrooms, which are equipped with Laptops computers and overhead projectors for electronic presentations, as well as DVD players and Bose surround sound for video presentations. Five multimedia packages allow professors to present electronic presentations in many other classrooms on campus. 

The Computer Services Department is responsible for maintaining the campus network by purchasing, installing and maintaining the more than 400 computers in the campus computer labs and faculty and staff offices. The computer services staff also makes sure campus network servers are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and that information stored on the servers is backed up on a daily basis. Computer services is also available to repair or maintain student computers, as well as answer any technology-related questions students may have.
